The music of today sounds drastically different to the music of a decade ago, and even more different than the music that defined two decades ago.
One can usually listen to a song and accurately pinpoint the period of time that the song was released. As the current decade comes to a close, several trends have emerged in the music industry. These trends have the potential to become extremely common, and could define the next decade of music. What exactly are these trends, and how will they affect the music of the next decade. Here’s five music trends to watch as we enter the new decade.

With those nine words, Rick Ross has let the universe know he's back, the next 12 months has much in store for the legendary Rozay. First up, he's working with Yowda an artist he personally signed to MMG a few years back. Vegas-based Yowda will be heading to Miami for Rolling Loud, where he and Rozay will take the stage to perform "Brick Man Remix". The visuals for this track dropped May 1st on World Star. The greatest fashionable, invite-only, red carpet event of the year is set to happen on May 6th 2019. Founded in 1948, by publicist Eleanor Lambert, the fundraiser event is focused on fashion, entertainment and fundraising. This years' theme, CAMP : NOTES ON FASHION is going to clarify how much drip and creativity lays within today's popular culture. With a wide range of celebrities, athletes and social media influencers who are definitely dressing to impress with the inspiration of writer and activist Susan Sontag's 1964 essay "Notes on Camp" which explores fashion aesthetic that embraces ironic and exaggerated styles.
Being hosted by the US Vogue editor and artistic director of Condé Nast, Anna Wintour, Harry Styles, Serena Williams and Lady Gaga, the Met Gala will be taking place at The Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York, the guests will have a chance to view more than 250 objects from the 17th century to the present. Looks from Moschino’s spring/summer 2017 collection, Gucci’s autumn/winter 2016 and Off-White’s pre-fall 2018 edit will feature within the walls of the Met, as well as the Iconic Marjan Pejoski swan dress by Macedonian fashion designer Marjan Pejoski that was worn by the Icelandic musician Bjork at the 73rd Academy Awards in March 2001. The second annual three day event with various hosts like Ali-Divine, Kendrick of Rocky Mountain Music Management and special guest From Atlanta 'The Rap Hippies' & The Hype Magazine is kicking off on 4/19/19 @ Truth Lounge.
As a guest DJ for the first annual event last year, all I have to say is that these events aren't one to miss. With a different and better vibe curated by the hosts everyday of the event, Local artists like Hanzo The Phantom and NinaN9ne let their music speak for itself, as the Denver hip hop scene and Art culture is on the rise. The Joints & Jawns Festival will include Colorado culture, various munchies from food vendors including free ice cream, and the cannabis community will also be present with the various sponsors to celebrate the flower with a focus on the local artists and talent that will have the whole city blazed up with Joints & Jawns.
